What are “good” returns in Real Estate Investing?

Q: When investing in Real Estate what is considered a good return on investment?

A: A good return is relative compared to the entire world of things in which you can invest. This number is not going to sound big and sexy, but hear us out. If, after all of your expenses you’re getting around 7 or 8%, you are doing okay. Is it possible to do better? Yes it’s possible and there are real estate investments that do much better than 8% but each strategy or asset class comes with its own set of risks.

But what about the gurus that promise you 20% or 50% or higher returns? They all have one thing in common: they are trying to sell you something.
